National Scientific Conference “Professional Deontology and the Practice of Medical Professions”
We kindly inform you that "Medical Law Quarterly" acted as patron of the National Scientific Conference “Professional Deontology and the Practice of Medical Professions”.
The conference was organized by the Chair of Comparative Law and Auxiliary Sciences and the Department of the History of State and Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Rzeszów, and it was held on 20 November 2025 in the facilities of the University of Rzeszów.
The conference was addressed to medical professionals and lawyers—both theorists and practitioners. The aim of the conference was to integrate the legal and medical communities around issues related to broadly understood medical law and the principles of professional deontology of professional self-governments of medical professions, as well as professional–deontological liability in these professions. The course of the event showed that these assumptions were fully achieved, with very good results.

3rd Medical Law Forum
"Medical Law Quarterly" acted as patron of the 3rd Medical Law Forum (23–24 May 2025), during which theorists and practitioners met again to jointly discuss medicine, law, and their interrelations.
The conference enabled a comprehensive exchange of legal–ethical–medical ideas on a shared academic platform, building an intellectual community beyond any divisions of professional and academic interests. The event was attended by representatives of various medical communities, including higher-education institutions, as well as lawyers from different academic centers and professional groups. The leitmotif of the third edition of the Forum was a “breath of change” in medical law and medical ethics—taking place before our eyes not only through the adoption of the new Code of Medical Ethics, but also in connection with probable and anticipated changes in the law itself, which may be expected in light of the ongoing work of codification commissions also involving the academic community.

3rd Medical Law Forum: “The Evolution of Standards of the Duty to Inform in Light of New Diagnostic and Treatment Possibilities”
“Medical Law Quarterly” was patron of the National Scientific Conference “The Evolution of Standards of the Duty to Inform in Light of New Diagnostic and Treatment Possibilities”, which took place on 7 May 2025 at the Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski University of Administration and Business in Gdynia, as well as online simultaneously. The organizers undertook the difficult task of organizing issues related to standards for informing patients, which must take into account both the growing level of complexity of medical procedures and patients’ rights to give informed consent to treatment.
As part of the event, a discussion was held, among other things, on the boundaries and scope of a physician’s duty to inform a patient in the face of new technologies, ways of adapting the law to dynamically changing diagnostic and treatment methods, the issue of a patient’s informed consent to the use of new technologies, and deontological challenges arising from artificial intelligence.

International Scientific Conference “New Technologies as a Challenge for Medicine, Medical Law and Bioethics”
“Medical Law Quarterly” was patron of the International Scientific Conference “New Technologies as a Challenge for Medicine, Medical Law and Bioethics”, which took place on 19 November 2024 at Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa. This time, the team from Częstochowa set an ambitious goal for the conference to address, among other things, assisted motherhood, bioprinting, medicine in terminal conditions, pro futuro declarations, and telemedicine.
This thematic scope triggered a broad discussion on the relationships between technology and medicine from legal and bioethical perspectives. The speakers addressed many important topics that resulted in a discussion which will certainly become only the beginning of further research and an inspiration for subsequent scientific publications.

National Scientific Conference “The Medical Market of the Future. Legal–Medical–Economic Aspects”
“Medical Law Quarterly” acted as patron of the National Scientific Conference “The Medical Market of the Future. Legal–Medical–Economic Aspects”, which took place on 24–25 October 2024 at the Cracow University of Economics. The conference aimed to provide a multi-dimensional analysis of the challenges facing the medical market in Poland over the next dozen or so years.
The event brought together many specialists, theorists, and practitioners in the fields of medical research, pharmaceuticals, management of medical entities, as well as new technologies, intellectual property, and insurance. Both the paper sessions and discussion panels attracted great interest from attendees and invited guests. The conference proved a great success, and we hope to be able to act as patron of its future editions as well.
2nd Medical Law Forum
In accordance with the promise made a year earlier, the next—second—edition of the Medical Law Forum took place on 24–25 May 2024, again within the walls of the Medical University of Warsaw. This time, the main theme of the event was the thresholds and barriers of medical law and medical ethics. The conference gathered nearly 50 speakers from leading academic centers across Poland, once again ensuring an exceptionally high level of debate.
In line with the assumptions adopted, the conference participants—addressing in their presentations key issues from the perspective of the healthcare system—identified the most important gaps and inconsistencies of the healthcare system, explained and analyzed them from a legal standpoint, and also formulated a set of recommendations for legislative changes that could improve the system’s efficiency and positively affect compliance with patients’ rights. The Forum also proved a great social and networking success.
“Medical Law Quarterly” once again acted as patron of the organized event and became the conference’s substantive partner. “Przegląd” not only provided participants with promotional materials, but also encouraged speakers to submit post-conference papers for publication, recognizing this as an excellent opportunity for interdisciplinary promotion of medical law not only among lawyers, but also among physicians.

The event was attended by lawyers, physicians, and others interested in the conference topic from many academic centers in Poland. Presentations by both experienced specialists and young researchers sparked discussion and, in line with the organizers’ assumptions, became a starting point for further reflection on the role of the relationships between law, medicine, and new technologies.

International, Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference in Medical Law “Legal Aspects in Psychiatry”
“Medical Law Quarterly” was substantive patron of the international, interdisciplinary scientific conference “Legal Aspects in Psychiatry”, which took place on 5 June 2023 at Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa. The event concerned psychiatry from the perspective of civil, criminal, constitutional, and administrative law, as well as a comparative-law perspective on legal problems in psychiatry.
The conference successfully fulfilled the tasks set before it. Participants unanimously stated that psychiatry is an area requiring special attention, not only due to its difficult situation in Poland, but also due to the significance of the legal problems associated with it. “Przegląd” hopes that it will be able to participate in further events organized by the team of researchers from Częstochowa.

1st Medical Law Forum
“Medical Law Quarterly” acted as patron of the reactivated Medical Law Forum, which took place on 26–27 May 2023 within the walls of the Medical University of Warsaw. During two days of proceedings, the conference gathered nearly 50 speakers presenting their research covering topics including physicians’ duties, basic research, court proceedings involving doctors, mental health protection, specific cases of healthcare, limits of therapy, representation of the interests of dependent persons, treatment standards, and the conscience clause.
The event proved to be a space for exchanging interesting ideas and views, a platform for discussion, and at the same time an opportunity to integrate the medical-law community in Poland. Speakers, attendees, and invited guests recognized the Medical Law Forum as an initiative worth continuing and promoting, and the organizers assured that they would make efforts for the event to become a permanent part of the calendars of specialists dealing with medical law and medical ethics.
As patron, “Medical Law Quarterly” provided participants with promotional sets and made archived issues of the journal available. The editorial team of “Przegląd” also offered speakers the possibility of publishing their conference presentations in peer-reviewed form as scientific articles due to their high substantive value and the extremely important issues addressed.

“Medical Law Quarterly” acted as substantive patron of the International Scientific Conference “Legal Aspects of the Liability of Healthcare Entities and Persons Practicing Medical Professions”, which took place on 9 June 2022 at Jan Długosz University of Humanities and Natural Sciences in Częstochowa. The conference was addressed to a wide audience: academic and teaching staff, practitioners, lawyers, persons practicing medical professions, employees of public institutions, doctoral candidates, students, and all other persons interested in the subject matter of the conference.
According to the organizers’ assumptions, the conference became a place for the dissemination of science, knowledge transfer, and the exchange of practical experience. Presentations by speakers from Poland and abroad enjoyed considerable interest, despite the online format of the event, and enabled an exchange of views and experiences from the perspective of healthcare systems in many countries.
